On last leg of uploading pictures so expect first recounts of Kyoto trip tomorrow. Today was last day of my JR pass. Had no really specific place I wanted to go so instead I went to revisit the Nara I visited on the first day of my 3 week pass. There had been mention of Kimono exhibition so figured it's as good place as any to visit now.
Trip was pretty standard. On arrival I was greeted again by...Rain. Bummer. Japan spring has very changeable weather. From blazing hot day to damp and chilly rainy day to blazing hot again.
The exhibition was pretty nice with room after room filled with stunningly beautiful kimonos from various eras and various levels(from villager kimonos to ones aristocrats wore). No pictures allowed though. Almost made me howl in frustration as if there's pictures I didn't get enough is specifically kimonos. Bummer. There was book(in Japanese) that had pictures of these(and likely more) along with lots of explanations. Fingers itched to buy but not only was it bit pricey I would pretty much have to mail it to Finland and it was BIG and heavy. Bad combination for mailing. In the end I sighed and let it pass.
After this I took quick walk to the park to see the shika-deers again. Bought some food for them and felt like Hamlet as I walked with 10+ shikas following me like zombies. One particularly creative one was trying to make me stop by trying to grab my trousers to his mouth. "Give the food!". Still funny little food beggars :D
Then just trip to home. Train trips both way went nicely sleeping(4-5 hour sleep per night have left me more than a bit tired), listening music(and reading lyrics) and reading manga. Improving on my reading speed. Was able to finish one manga and go long way through another despite spending about hour reading lyrics of a songs as I listened them and sleeping. Then again...I did spend 6 or so hours in train + waiting so had plenty of time to kill!
With this my JR pass ran out and with that so did my Japan exploration. Might take bus trip to mount Fuji(I hear there's one from Shinjuku) but apart from that just Tokyo and not much that either as I'm actually bit short of cash! I'll probably try to play some more Go which I haven't played here like over a month now. Still concerts to go and then time to pack and see how to get all in as cheap manner as possible to Finland :D Good thing I was hinted by Japanese person about extra-slow, extra-cheap shipping method for printed material so might ship all the read manga + whatever I can figure with it if it's really cheap. Sure would help seeing the pile of read manga is already quite big.
